Welcome to the Future: iPad Home Automation

Technology has greatly improved over the years and the iPad Home Automation system is now with us. Years ago no one would have ever thought that you would be able to control lighting or anything else in your home with an electronic device such as this. Everything has changed rather drastically since the first computer was developed years ago. Laptop computers, mobile phones and iPads and other tablet devices are definitely the norm now. Every household in America has at [...]

OMGPOP detail forthcoming update to Draw Something

Android Central

The latest "must-have" app on the block, is without question OMGPOP's insanely addictive Draw Something. Currently it occupies the top spot in the free, and paid app sections of the Android Market Google Play Store. It's even got the AC staff hooked in -- that's a bonfire I've drawn in case you were wondering. Not resting on their laurels though, the developers have outlined a few pieces that will be arriving soon in a forthcoming update.

An email that landed in our inbox today details what we can expect. First out of the gate is a whole bunch of bug fixes. Seems there are a variety of bugs affecting players, including crashes, problems completing turns and coins, colors and bombs not displaying -- and sometimes you really need one of those bombs. The good news though, these will all be fixed when the update lands.

But what about new features? Well, we're due a few of those as well. On the list are:

  • Sharing drawings on Twitter and Facebook
  • Save drawings to your devices' photo library
  • Notifications for Android devices
  • Increase of the max streak from 99 to 999
  • Pull down to refresh game status
  • Undo button for your last brush stroke
  • Even better performance
  • More Words
  • A slew of other fixes and tweaks

The extra dose of social integration definitely shouldn't come as a surprise. Certainly looks like we're about to see a whole lot of 'masterpieces' up and down our timelines. Notifications should be pretty good though. One can only assume that we'll get a handy little notification that our opposing players have sent us something to guess at. This isn't mentioned for our iOS friends though, so it looks like at that end we'll still be left waiting for them.

If you haven't yet succombed to the world of Draw Something, we've a handy download link to the free version after the break. Don't forget to check out our review of it as well, just in case you're still not convinced. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to try and draw the Amazon.

Pinterest Updates Terms Of Service As It Preps An API And Private Pinboards: More Copyright Friendly

pinterest-logo6Pinterest is growing up fast: just days ago the image-based social network rolled out redesigned profile pages, and now it's following that up with an updated Terms of Service, Acceptable Use Policy and Privacy Policy that sharpen how the company interfaces on a number of commercial points as it rides its wave of growth as it rapidly reaches and passes 12 million users. "We think that the updated Terms of Service, Acceptable Use Policy, and Privacy Policy are easier to understand and better reflect the direction our company is headed in the future," CEO Ben Silbermann wrote in an email to Pinterest users informing them of the changes, due to take effect on April 6. From the looks of it, that future direction involves not just more private experiences on Pinterest but also a much stronger push to get Pinterest working in a whole lot more places.

Boomshine is a soothing-yet-frustrating time waster

boomshine
One click; just one single well-aimed click. That's all you get in Boomshine.

That single click triggers a chain reaction; circles start exploding, and other circles colliding with the shockwaves explode as well, creating their own shockwaves, which then catch other circles.

It's been done before, yes, but this one is a great iteration. The soundtrack is mellow, with lots of piano and some nice percussion (not electronic - it sounds like drums).

At each level you need to make a certain number of circles explode to go on to the next level. I got up to level 12, where you get 60 circles and need to make 55 of them explode. And then I kept trying and trying, but simply couldn't get it. I did get to 54 circles a couple of times, but as they say, you don't get points for trying.

There's no time limit, so you can carefully study the pattern of motion and place your click at the exact right place to create the best chain reaction. I've found that clicking near the middle of the screen works quite well, especially if the balls are slowly moving in that direction. By the time the first shockwave dies off, the oncoming balls usually hit it and the chain reaction continues.

What level did you reach? Screenshots please!

A Glitch Accidentally Told 300 People They Won the Lottery When They Really Didn't [WTFriday]

In what has to be one of the biggest Indian giver moves ever, Danish state run lottery company Danske Spil notified 300 people via email that they just won billions in the lottery... only they really didn't. They were only notified because of a glitch in the system, meaning for half an hour 300 people thought their lives had changed forever. More »

Farragomate is a social fridge magnet game where you make up sentences

farragomate
You know those fridge magnet kits composed of a whole bunch of words? The ones you put all over your fridge door and then try to arrange into all sorts of juvenile and/or amusing sentences. Well, Farragomate is the social, webby version of that very same pastime.

You get to play with a bunch of random strangers in real-time, and make up sentences out of a pre-set collection of words, including some fairly naughty ones, and all players' nicknames. As you can imagine, some of the results are not child-friendly.

There are ten rounds to a game. Once a round is done, players get to vote for their favorite sentence from that round. You can't vote for your own creation, of course. There's in-game chat, too.

I think the vocabulary could be made a bit more eclectic, but even as it is, it's a nice way to spend a few minutes and meet random strangers on the Internet (always a thrilling experience).

How Conservatives Made #iLikeObamaCare The Number One Topic On Twitter (Updated) [Twitter]

This is how it goes on Twitter. Somebody tweets a hashtag that other people vehemently disagree with, and those people chime in to talk about how stupid it is, accelerating that hashtag—and its message—up Twitter's trending topics. Today's example? Obamacare. More »
