Too Drunk To Drive, But Still Wanna Get Your Car Home? There’s An App For That

Double Phone Image_400pxYou know what I hate most about getting too drunk to drive home? The hangover. No, no, I'm kidding (well, sort of) - it's having to go retrieve my car from wherever I left it the next day. Sometimes, it's been towed. Other times, it's been broken into (true story). That's why I'm hopeful about the possibilities a new service called StearClear has in store. The startup, which is backed by $500,000 in founder-led and VC funding, has been up-and-running for just a month in parts of New Jersey. What StearClear offers, simply put, is a way to get you and your car home. Safely. Oh god, please let this work.

Best iPhone and iPad apps for celebrating Passover

Just like at the first Passover Seder, Jews around the world will gather with their iPads around the traditional festive meal and retell the miracle of our freedom from Egyptian slavery.

OK, maybe they didn’t have iPads at the first Seder, but you can be sure that lots of Jews will have their iPads out at this year’s Seder. Thankfully, there are plenty of apps this year that can keep you connected to the action and otherwise engaged during some of the “less” interesting parts. The Passover Seder is the meal that involves the telling of the story of the Biblical Exodus from Egypt.  The narrative of the journey from slavery to freedom is called the Haggadah and it is filled with stories, traditional food and blessings and sometimes regional or familial customs.

Max Payne Mobile

If you dig third-person shooter games then chances are you've checked out Max Payne at some point since its original release in 2001 and now, Rockstar Games is taking Max Payne to new territory. As announced on their blog, Max Payne Mobile will be arriving on Android devices come April 26th and will feature the full classic game optimized for mobile experiences and include HD graphics, high-resolution textures, Social Club connectivity and user-customizable controls. Sadly, Rockstar has yet to announce which devices will be compatible at launch but that will come soon enough and it should be a broad range.

Jetbus is a retro-tastic physics game, with a bus

jetbus
Once upon a time, there used to be a DOS game with a caveman and a human powered helicopter. The caveman would shuttle around the screen, madly trying to get customers to where they wanted to go.

Jetbus is not that game, but it's obviously inspired by it. You're driving a yellow school bus which has jets. I guess the jet engine takes quite a bit of space inside the bus, because you can only pick up one person at a time.

There are several doors on the screen, each with its own number. As you pick up a person, the status bar at the bottom of the screen shows you which number door you have to take them to.

You must fly your bus carefully, because if it gets bumped around too much, you lose. You earn money on each level, and can visit the garage to buy better jets and damping, power-ups, or even a whole new vehicle.

So while this game isn't made as well as the original that inspired it, it does provide a few minutes of fun. And now, which one of you guys remembers the original and feels like pointing to it in the comments?

The Holmdel Horn: The Most Important Radio Antenna Ever [Monster Machines]

In 1964, two researchers at Bell Telephone Laboratories were desperately attempting to pin down a source of interference that their antenna kept encountering. Little did they know that their antenna, the Holmdel Horn, was picking up the first observable evidence of the Big Bang—cosmic background radiation. More »

On The Nokia Lumia 900 And How AT&T Is The Phone’s Only Downside

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThis is it. The stakes couldn't be higher. The future of Windows Mobile Phone hinges on the success of the Nokia Lumia 900. The phone has a huge amount of hype. It's priced right at $99 on-contract and it's a drop-dead gorgeous device. Nokia's latest marketing campaign directly targets Apple and Google. If any phone could rocket Windows Phone 7 to success it's the Lumia 900. It's just too bad Microsoft and Nokia tasked lowly AT&T of all carriers to launch this pivotal phone. And for whatever unknown reason, on Easter Sunday. It's just too bad Microsoft and Nokia tasked lowly AT&T of all carriers to launch this pivotal phone. Weekly Photo Contest: Flowers!

Now that our iPhone photography series is well on its way, it's time to put our new skills to the test -- and what a better way than with a contest! That's right, this is the debut of iMore's newest series -- weekly photo contests! Each week will have a different focus, and this week's is on flowers! Apple used a spectacular pink flower photo to show off the new iPad but never made it available as a wallpaper or download! We think the iMore nation can more than make up for it! It's the perfect time too -- it's the beginning spring and gorgeous flowers are starting to pop up all over the place. You're going to be taking photos of them anyway, so you might as well submit those beautiful shots and win a prize!

GSM Galaxy Nexus seeing signal issues after Android 4.0.4 update?

gsm galaxy nexus signal issue
Sometimes, updates aren't as sweet as they initially sound. Such is the case with Android 4.0.4, which recently rolled out to owners of the GSM Galaxy Nexus. According to an increasingly vocal swath of members at xda-developers (and confirmed by a listing on Google's own Support page), there are mysterious signal issues now troubling the device. For many users, there's an inexplicable loss of signal -- a complete inability to make or receive calls and text messages -- after applying the v4.0.4 update, though it's beginning to look like Sleep is the issue. For some, preventing the phone from going to into a deep sleep mode has solved the dilemma, but it has also created a life where a nearby AC outlet is more of a necessity than usual. Hit up the source link to submit a bug report if you're experiencing precisely this, and let us know of any potential fixes down in comments below.
