Twitter airs first TV spot during NASCAR, implores racing fans to discover the magic of hashtags

Given #thescope with which Twitter has #invadedpopularculture, it may come as a shock to realize that the company hasn't really ventured too far into the world of television advertising -- but then, it seems that it's been doing a pretty good job getting enough #freeadvertising as is. Clearly the folks at Twitter saw an untapped resource in the form of the #NASCAR audience, using the weekend's race to launch its first TV #adcampaign, revolving around fittingly pithy spots capped off with the TWITTER.COM/#NASCAR URL, which redirects to a landing page for the weekend's festivities. Relive the #thrilloftherace with a slew of Twitter ads #afterthebreak.

A Visit To The Pre-WWDC Mountain Lion Rumor Mill

wwdc1Rounding up Mountain Lion rumors is actually quite simple. After all, the OS update has been floating around the developer boards for a while now and while there is no Gold Master available, many of the upcoming features are already detailed and fully baked. Mountain Lion, in short, is Apple's move to add iOS functionality to the laptop and desktop. A convergence of best-of-breed mobile techniques - notifications, do-not-disturb systems, and signed software - and a strong back end, the new OS aims to scratch a few itches rather than change the way we work in a wholesale manner. Mountain Lion is an iterative update. Folks looking for touchscreen laptops and other weirdness are probably going to have to wait. However, we do know quite a bit and it's definitely an update that will make your Mac run a little better and your work a little more efficient. Here are the rumors we've heard about Mountain Lion. If you want a bit of insight into what Mountain Lion will do to your computer right now, check this out while you can read MG's review here.

Such was the case for one student, who had the canny idea to make a card that demonstrates his printed circuit board know-how. He used a 555 timer that outputs a clock to the LEDs on the biz card, and placing a nine-volt battery on the terminals sets off the mini light show. See for yourself in the video below.
