While some pay-TV providers are tied up in nasty battles with the studios that provide them content, Comcast and Scripps have just inked an agreement to bring the company's lifestyle programming to cable subscribers over the internet. As noted in the press release (embedded after the break) the multi-year deal brings HGTV, DIY Network, Food Network, Cooking Channel, Travel Channel and Great American Country to Comcast's TV Everywhere portal, via mobile (and "other" devices) and on Scripps websites. Probably not a minor element in the deal is the inclusion of support for Comcast's on the fly ad-insertion for VOD, which should push the efforts of both partners along, although potentially unskippable ads could be less viewer friendly.

Good news, Sprint HTC EVO 3D and EVO Design 4G owners, your long-awaited Android 4.0 update will soon be arriving. The carrier posted an update on its community site today, announcing that Ice Cream Sandwich will be on both phones by "early August."
In the meantime, Sprint has published a changelog detailing some of the improvements EVO owners can look forward to with the upgrade to Android 4.0. It's mostly the standard ICS stuff we're already familiar with on other devices --
Though not explicitly stated, we'd expect this update to bump the EVOs up to HTC Sense 3.6 at the same time, since that's what's happened with similar devices like the Sensation.
The announcement follows the availability of ICS for the EVO 3D and HTC Raider, the Canadian equivalent of the EVO Design, a couple of weeks ago on Rogers. Sprint says to stay tuned for full dates, and we'll have more details on these updates just as soon as they're announced.

If bits of launcher script, photographic evidence and a short video weren't enough to convince you Valve was porting Steam to Linux, maybe you'll take it directly from the horse's mouth: Steam is coming to Ubuntu 12.04. Sick, perhaps, of denying the project, Valve has created a Linux blog to document its efforts -- outlining its history with the open-source OS and making its goals public. The plan is simple: get Steam ported to Linux with full functionality, optimize Left 4 Dead to run at a respectable clip with OpenGL and port additional Valve titles. The team is also asking for feedback, and hope to leverage the ideas of the community. Eager to put in your two cents? Check out the blog at the source link below.
