Dell's built quite a reputation for delivering solid monitors at reasonable prices, and it's now expanded its offerings in a fairly big way with no less than five new S Series models, some of which boast edge-to-edge glass and/or IPS panels. On the top end is the 27-inch S2740L, which has the most connectivity options of the lot (DVI, VGA, HDMI and a pair of USB ports) and, of course, the highest price tag at $400. From there, things drop to $300 with the 24-inch S2440L (the only non-IPS model of the lot), and go all the way down to $200 for the 21.5-inch S2240M -- the three lower-end models ditch the edge-to-edge glass but still retain minimal bezels. Unlike some of the company's higher-end UltraSharp models, though, all five monitors have a 16:9 aspect ratio instead of 16:10, and you'll get a standard 1920 x 1080 resolution regardless of the size you choose. Complete specs for each can be found at the links below.

Good news today for all our Android brethren across the pond! The ARCHOS 101 XS tablet is now available in the ARCHOS Europe webstore. It's funny how sometimes products are first available in the US and not Europe... or sometimes the exact opposite.
Anyway, the ARCHOS 101 XS has 10.1-inch display at 1200 x 800 resolution, stereo speakers, and a front-facing camera. All that is powered by a dual-core 1.2 GHz OMAP 4470 CPU with PowerVR SGX544 GPU and 1 GB of RAM.

I was just shown this interesting little graphic at a conference I’m attending and thought I’d share it with you good folk on the Gadgeteer. Produced by Business Intelligence Specialists Domo, it shows what happens on the Internet every minute of the day. Makes for some interesting reading. Enjoy! (If the image is too small to read even after you’ve clicked for an enlargement, you can see the original at the Domo blog.)

Data never sleeps. What happens on the Internet every minute of the day? originally appeared on The Gadgeteer on September 20, 2012 at 8:00 am.
At the end of July, I told you about an interesting 6 part movie concept where regular folks like you and I were able to audition for small parts. The concept of the film is that 20-something year old Alex wakes up every morning in a brand new body that can be old, young, tall, short, fat, thin, ugly, beautiful, male or female. Topher Grace from That 70′s Show is Alex. He is the voice behind the main character as he narrates the episodes. Each episode is less than 10 minutes long and so far 5 of them have aired with just one left to air this week. The story is simple but draws you in as Alex discovers his love interest at an antique shop. How do you start a relationship with someone when you’re a totally different person each day? I am anxious to see the last episode to find out how things wrap up. I’m the type of person who wants a happy ending for every story, so I hope this one ends up that way. The interesting thing about this movie is that there’s a social media side to it on Facebook where “Alex” asks questions and people answer and leave comments.

Nortel, once one of the biggest telecoms company in the world but now in the death throes of bankruptcy, has selected Google's $900 million bid for its patent portfolio as the stalking horse bid. This doesn't mean that Google will automatically win Nortel's massive array of telecoms patents, but it does mean that Google is the preferred buyer. Google, which has a history of lobbying for patent law reform, has been the target of many patent litigation suits. Google's relative infancy means that it has a lot less patents in the vault than big-hitters like Microsoft, Oracle and IBM, and buying Nortel's portfolio of 6,000 patents could provide better protection against patent litigation in the future. It's worth noting that both Apple and RIM have showed interested in the portfolio, too. Mashable speculates that the patents -- which are nearly all telecoms-related -- will be used to defend against Oracle's attacks on Android's use of Java. We reckon that Google is simply looking to cover its future endeavors in the world of networking. In the absence of patent law reform, and continued threats to net neutrality, owning a bunch of telecoms patents sounds like a very sensible move.Google bids $900 million for Nortel's patents to protect against litigation trolls originally appeared on Download Squad on Mon, 04 Apr 2011 13:30:00 EST. In the land of tweets and tell-alls, keeping privileged information on the down-low is next to impossible. Oddly enough, pricing and release details for the ThinkPad 2 didn't require much espionage. At last night's PepCom event, Lenovo reps told WP Central that the Windows 8-powered slab will be available on October 26th for $799. This price point might be a tad on the high side for some, but it does include the tablet's optional keyboard. As a refresher, the ThinkPad 2 sports a 10.1-inch IPS display, an Intel Atom processor and NFC, all powered by an alleged 10 hour battery. For the data gluttons out there, AT&T's LTE is on the menu stateside. Whether or not this pricing and release information holds true, we'll still have to see what else surfaces before making a final decision this holiday season.
